Fidya (fidyah) is a religious donation to help those in need. It is only paid when someone is unable to fast during Ramadan due to medical conditions or any other valid reasons such as a prolonged illness, and will not be able to make up the fast.

Based on the fatwa issued on 16 February 2026, the following updates regarding Fidyah have been established:

Updated Fidyah Rate
The Fidyah rate is now set at $4.00 per day, reflecting the cost of a basic meal in Singapore. This change aims to provide a more accurate representation of the actual cost of feeding a person in need.

Compounded Fidyah Ruling
The obligation to compound Fidyah for missed fasts over multiple years has been removed. This means that individuals are no longer required to pay additional Fidyah for each year a fast is missed. However, those who wish to continue the practice of compounding their Fidyah payments may do so voluntarily.

For those preferring the non-compounded method of calculation, please select reason with '(Non-Compounded)' text. This selection ensures that the calculation aligns with the non-compounded approach.
